Of the two Explorer II dials, it is the 'Polar' that collectors ask for first. The cream-white dial of the reference 16570 with its black-outlined markers and black hands is one of the most distinctive faces Rolex has ever made, instantly readable and utterly unlike anything else in the catalogue. Beneath it sits the fixed 24-hour engraved bezel and red 24-hour hand that gave cave explorers their day from their night, all in a 40mm steel case with the leaner proportions of the five-digit era. This example is unpolished, with its original case lines intact, and presents in great condition.
The Y serial dates production to 2002; you can read how Rolex serial letters date a watch in our Rolex serial numbers guide. This timepiece comes with its box and booklets. Please note there are no original papers.
