Tudor introduced its Prince Date chronograph family in 1995 in three versions, and the reference 79280 is the one fitted with the polished steel tachymeter bezel. In 1997, fresh from his first Masters win, Tiger Woods became a Tudor ambassador, and collectors have called this generation of Tudor chronographs the 'Tiger' ever since. This 1997 example pairs a grey sunray dial with contrasting black sub-dials and a date window, with screw-down pushers either side of a Rolex-signed winding crown, all on the classic Oyster bracelet. It presents in excellent condition, with crisp case lines and a clean, sharp dial.
This timepiece comes as a full set, and that is what makes it special. Nineties 79280s turn up from time to time, but finding one with its original dated paperwork is genuinely hard. This watch still has the lot: the original Tudor guarantee paper signed and dated 17 June 1997 by the selling retailer in Oslo, Norway, the Tudor guarantee booklet, the red Tudor hang tag, the inner red Tudor box and the outer box labelled 79280. A great opportunity to own a complete, well-documented neo-vintage Tudor chronograph.
